Today's song is about one of my favorite treats in Taiwan: Red Turtle Cakes (turtles are my favorite animals -- shhh)! In Mandarin they're called 紅龜粿 (hóng guī guǒ or ㄏㄨㄥˊ ㄍㄨㄟ ㄍㄨㄛˇ ), but no one in Taiwan calls them by their Mandarin name.  They're only ever referred to in Taiwanese, which is pronounced âng-ku-kué.　And that's why this is our A word: it starts with an A in Taiwanese! (Remember to look at the bottom of the post for the song chords!)

今天的節目題目談到了我在台灣其中最愛的點心：紅龜粿（別告訴別人－－KTV老師最愛的動物就是烏龜）！國語的發音是hóng guī guǒ 或 ㄏㄨㄥˊ ㄍㄨㄟ ㄍㄨㄛˇ，但在台灣沒有人會用國語說這個食物．紅龜粿只能用台語說，而台語的發音是：âng-ku-kué．因此節目第一集的Ａ開頭詞是紅龜粿：因為台語發音的拼音就是Ａ開頭！(記得看網頁最下面的地方就可以找到歌曲的和絃囉!)

紅龜粿? Made of turtles?! No! They just look like turtles!　紅龜粿是用烏龜做的？不！他們只是長得像烏龜而已！

You use a mold to make their shape　要用模型製造他們的形狀

And red dye to make their shade　也要用紅色染料製造他們的色彩

Turtles mean long life and that is why　烏龜代表長壽而因此

They're used at Taiwanese festivals　台灣的節慶會用到他們
