In the last several years, Taiwan has become more
and more popular as an international tourist destination. But if you go online and read foreign news or
blogs about traveling in Taiwan, the large majority are talking about fun and
famous places to visit...in northern Taiwan.
Yes, northern Taiwan is great, of course! There's Taipei 101, the
National Palace Museum, the special rocks in Yehliu Geopark, the old-time feel of
the streets of Jiufen, all the Meiji-era government buildings in Taipei, the cosmopolitan
lifestyle of the more urban north.
But half the people living in Taiwan don't even live in the north. And because of cultural, economic and climate divides between the north, the middle and the south (Taiwan's North-South Divide Wiki page), if you only visit the north, it's hard to say you've really been to "Taiwan".
Cape Eluanbi is the southernmost part of the main island of Taiwan. It's surrounded by Kenting National Park (which is also worth a visit!), and besides being a beacon of light to prevent shipwrecks, it was also built as an armed lighthouse, which is not common for lighthouses around the world. See? Look what people miss when they don't get out of the city!
So when you have visitors from abroad, or if you yourself live abroad and are thinking of coming to Taiwan, remember to make time for visits to central and southern Taiwan. Taiwan is relatively small, but it's got diverse landscapes and cultures! (Remember to look at the bottom of the post for the song chords!)
近十幾年中，台灣作為國際旅遊勝地越來越受歡迎。但是如果你上網看有關在台灣旅遊的外國新聞或部落格，大多數的文章介紹的是在台灣北部有趣而著名的景點。沒錯，台灣北部當然也很棒！北部有台北101大樓，故宮博物院，野柳地質公園內的特殊岩石，九份老街的舊時風情，台北日治時代的所有政府大樓以及北部的國際化城市生活方式。
但是台灣有一半的人口甚至沒有住在北部啊！而且由於台灣的北部，中部和南部之間的文化，經濟和氣候還是有差異（台灣重北輕南維基百科），所以如果只去北部旅行，那就不太能說你真的去過"台灣"。
鵝鑾鼻海角是台灣主島的最南端。它被墾丁國家公園（Kenting National Park）環繞（這個國家公園也是一個值得一遊的地方！），它不僅是防止沉船的燈塔，而且還是武裝的燈塔，在世界各地的燈塔中並不常見。看吧？我們如果不離開大城市就會錯過很多吧！
因此，當你有從國外來的人來拜訪你時，或者你居住在國外並打算來台灣時，請記住要留點時間去台灣中部和南部遊玩。台灣相對較小，但擁有多種樣的景觀和文化！（記得看網頁最下面的地方就可以找到歌曲的和絃囉！）
